Photo Shoot with A loving dog named Aslan

A few weeks ago I received a call from a sweet woman who told me her family’s dog had just been diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in his nose/mouth/maxilla, and that he was about to undergo radiation treatment. They were hoping to get some photos of him before he begun his treatment, as it would involve shaving his face, and his energy levels would be unpredictable for awhile. Of course I agreed to do the shoot, and felt humbled to even receive the call. Doing sessions like these are a pet photographer’s highest calling, and I’m always grateful to get the chance to meet dogs in these uncertain situations. We booked the shoot immediately, and I was able to meet this gentle dog, whose name is Aslan.

He’s a Soft Coat Wheaten Terrier, and has a very loving family that thinks the world of him. We met at a park and took some shots of him running around and being a silly dog, then came back home for a few portraits as well as some shots of him with every family member. He was a lovable, sweet, teddy bear of a dog, and I was so happy to be able to take his portrait. His family was also kind, patient, and accommodating. I can’t thank them enough for hiring me for this important job. I feel like the luckiest person in the world being able to make images of such amazing dogs and people. I am so grateful for these opportunities.
